Medline is a good start for evidence searches in all areas of medicine, surgery, nursing, midwifery and allied health.
Medline is produced by the National Library of Medicine in the US and contains over 28 million references across all areas of medicine and life sciences. Over 5,200 journals are currently indexed, in around 40 languages. Coverage is from 1946 onwards.
Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust staff have access to Medline Complete that also includes an additional 1,150 full-text, non open-access journals.
Medline can be searched through a choice of three different interfaces:
-
Search Medline using the EBSCO interface
-
Search Medline using the Ovid interface
-
Search Medline using the ProQuest interface
Medline can also be searched as part of the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub.
For searching for journal articles that are set in a United Kingdom context, or look at UK populations or practice, there is a search filter for the Ovid interface available.
